Lots of Fun Stuff

This week was fun. Thursday we got tickets through our building for the Big Apple Circus. We go every year, and this year was especially entertaining. Little Miss Lady and I just got home from a day of festivies at the pier at the Hudson River and 44th Street. I think it's Pier 84. It has been made into a beautiful park. Absolutely lovely with a Dancing Waters-type fountain, beautiful public restrooms and cafe space. Lots of walkways and benches and tables. Today there was entertainment and food and free rides on the Water Taxi, face-painting, fishing. What a great time. Wednesday, Little Miss Lady was picked to go with 7 other second graders to Sardi's for lunch for a children's book signing. She had a really nice time. All in all, things are good. Just really busy.

Living It and Loving It

Having a beautiful time my friends. My days are so full now that I don't post as much. Don't really feel the need to lately, but don't want to lose touch with some of you. My daily business has been bustling and bringing me much joy. I even worked everyday of the three day week-end. Last week on Monday I celebrated Yom Kipper with a colonoscopy! My own version of ethnic cleansing. I turned 50 in July you know so there you have it. Little Miss Lady and I celebrated by going to Macy's and purchasing two swivel/rocker/recliners...very comfortable. I've got three little ones asleep here so I thought I'd say hey!

Falling behind

It's been awhile between posts because I've been too busy. Taking care of the kids and fulfilling everyone's needs has been time-consuming and frankly doesn't seem to be interesting fodder to put out for others to read. Life as a single-mom continues to challenge me. This is our third year now, the kids and I... The first year was such a relief to be out of such a horrible situation. Last year was cool because I had proof that I could do it. Now I feel like everyone is doing so well it's time for MY life to improve. But I don't know what that means. Although I've never been happier, I'm a little bored.
Just wanted to say hi to my friends in blogville.

Summer's Over

Can't believe summer is coming to an end. Seems we packed so much into it. Can't believe my 14 year old son went to basketball camp in Erie, PA, worked at the preschool and his regular Wed. gig, went to Florida for a week with his friend and spent a week at Young Life sleep away camp at Lake Champion. He has hung out with his friends and done lots of cool things. He is really excited about his clothes this year. This is a first. I bought him four pairs of jeans last week and he went back yesterday and bought three more with his own money. How cute is that. He is excited to start high school.
Little Miss Lady turned seven this summer. She lost both her top front teeth, got her ears pierced, enjoyed summer camp on the plaza, and traveled with me to Greenport on the train for our special "girls only" vacation. I can't believe how lucky I am that just as my son is getting to the point in his growing up that he doesn't enjoy hanging out with "mom", that I get to spend time with my funny, beautiful, talented, sweet girl child.
Getting ready to get back to my candy production. I'm at the point where I need an under the counter freezer. Last year my entire freezer was taken up with my stock. This year the freezer is full of goodies from Omaha Steaks. Hopefully I will work this out in the next month.
Hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day week-end. It's a wash-out here on the East Coast.

We're Back

We actually got back a week ago, but with all the post vacation laundry, catching up on chores and business and jumping right back into work I haven't checked in with my blog friends.
We had a great time in Greenport. Lots of shopping, swimming and sunning, riding the carousel, went to the movies, danced to bluegrass music in Mitchell Park...and it was fun at the end of each day to dress for dinner and pick out a nice place to eat. We loved our fancy hotel, the Harborfront Inn. www.theharborfrontinn.com. It was a delightful time hanging out with my daughter. The train ride was easy and cheap. And I hope we can do it again next year.

Vacation Time

Little Miss Lady and I are off on our trip to Greenport tomorrow morning. We are taking the train at 7:40 AM from Penn Station. She's never been on a real train before, other than the subway, and I think she will enjoy the sights. We are looking forward to a concert at Mitchell Park tomorrow night and all of the other fun that awaits us.
Son leaves the following day to Lake Champion for a week at Young Life camp. I feel a little weird leaving him here for a day, but his Dad is two blocks away and friends and activities abound on the plaza. He has strict instructions to not have any friends here while we are gone...famous last words, right? I trust him and am confident that he won't blow that trust.
Have a great week friends and I'll be back Friday! Annie

Carnival Day

Little Miss Lady's summer camp had their Carnival today. Another perfect day, weather-wise, and she had fun working at the lollipop table. Got the suitcases out for our trip. Teen son will go to Young Life camp on Lake Champion, upstate New York next week. And we will travel to Greenport for the week. Looking forward to lobster roll at Claudio's, taking sweetie to the candy store, playing at the beach, riding the carousel, and staying at a nice hotel with a nice pool.
It's been two years since our life changed for the better and I need to reflect on all of the wonderful things that have happened to us. I'm excited for school to start again...excited to get back into Annie's Kiddie Camp and Day Spa...and of course, best of all, continuing to work on MISS ANNIE'S CANDY!
